Instructional Focus

Ellerslie Campus is dedicated to high levels of achievement. In collaboration with parents and community partners, we have created a safe and nurturing learning environment where the academic, physical, social and emotional needs of all our students are met. We embrace the premise that the very purpose of our school is to help all students learn at high levels. There is no ambiguity or hedging regarding this commitment to learning. Staff go beyond ensuring that children are taught, to ensuring that all students learn essential knowledge, skills, and attitudes in every area of learning. This focus is evident in every aspect of our school culture, as staff continually examine evidence of student learning, and further, identify interventions necessary to ensure all students learn.

Community Involvement

Ellerslie Campus recognizes that all children are global citizens and that we can help make our community a better place by contributing to it and being active in making it a better place.

Ellerslie Campus has participated in some of the following community activities:

Terry Fox Run – In the fall, students were encouraged to collect money for the Terry Fox Foundation. Ellerslie students and staff raised over $5000 for cancer research and as a result the female staff pulled a fire truck across the parking lot and the male staff wore dresses to school.

TerryFoxRun001

Food Bank – During the month of December, Tiger Teams were encouraged to “outweigh” each other’s food bank donations. Families were encouraged to bring food bank donations to our Christmas Concert to help out those in need.

Mitten Tree - In conjunction with our food bank drive, we collected mittens on a Christmas Tree for those who were in need.

Thirst Relief Water Project – In February, our grade 2 and 5 classes challenged all classes to collect money to help people in Brazil purchase water filters for their community.
