Division Re-entry Strategy

Read our COVID-19 Division Re-entry Strategy for information about how we’re welcoming students and staff back into schools this September. We’re preparing to welcome students and staff back into schools this September.

Message to the Ellerslie Family

Student and Parent/Guardians:

I hope everyone is healthy and safe while doing their part to slow/stop the spread of the COVID-19. We paused instruction this week as a Division and also at Ellerslie Campus School.  The leadership through this by Superintendent Robertson and his team has been exceptional. Health and safety have been the main focus of students, families and staff. I know many families are eager to get started with learning,  but we wanted to respect the process completely at Ellerslie Campus School. We also believe the timing was to our advantage. We have only lost 1 week of teaching and learning prior to spring break and to be real this is always a slower week because of the upcoming spring break and Term 2 report cards have already been released.  Students are not as focused and often many families are away at this time. In my opinion we only lost 3 days of teaching and learning. We will have a soft start to our approach to teaching and learning of the curriculum after spring break on Monday March 30. We will focus on re-establishing relationships with students and parents/guardians plus collecting information on what support might be needed.  The learning will be different from what we are all used to and all parties will need time to transition (students, parents/guardians and teachers). Be ready to receive a call from your home room teacher on March 30. This call is for parents/guardians as well as students to start the process. Also, keep checking SchoolZone starting March 30th for more information and updates.

The Division will also be releasing some supporting information to support the move to teaching and learning of curriculum.  If at any time you are looking for clarity, do not hesitate to email me at george.hoyt@epsb.ca.  If you are looking for any supports any time you can also email ellerslie@epsb.ca.  For kindergarten registration help, please email ellerslie@epsb.ca.

Please be safe and keep practicing social distancing.

George Hoyt

Principal's Message

Welcome to Ellerslie Campus,

Ellerslie Campus School is located in south east Edmonton with K - 9 programing.  Ellerslie functions as one collaborative learning community and embodies a rich history defined by academic excellence, student citizenship and exemplary teaching practices.  On the whole, Ellerslie Campus is a bright and vibrant place that comes alive with youthful excitement and an eagerness for learning from the moment students walk through the doors in the morning until the custodial staff locks the door at the end of the day.

The south campus is a unique building that models a perfect setting for Division 1 education and is home to Kindergarten to Grade two classes.  The north campus, home to the school’s main office and our Grades three to nine classes, is receiving a few upgrades to classrooms, offices and learning common areas to further support student learning and development.  We at Ellerslie see real advantage in having multiple age groups from elementary to Junior High in one building.

The thing that I am most proud of at Ellerslie is the staff’s commitment to the development of the whole child.  Our staff want every student to have an experience that shapes them successfully for life.  The staff is a dedicated group of professionals who work in a collaborative model.  Because of this, Ellerslie Campus is dedicated to high levels of achievement for all students. In collaboration with parents and community partners, we have created a safe and nurturing learning environment where the academic, physical, social and emotional needs of all our students are met.

I encourage parents, guardians and community members to get involved at Ellerslie Campus.  We welcome your input and look forward to working with you to ensure all students are successful.  If you have any questions please contact the main office.

Mr. George Hoyt
